How-tos & Workflows
Daily rituals overview
How morning planning, focus, and shutdown fit together.

The three rituals
| Ritual | When | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Morning ritual | Start of work | Pick today's tasks and commit to a plan |
| Focus | Anytime | Block out and execute on one task |
| Shutdown | End of work | Close the day, decide what rolls over |
The morning ritual frames the day, focus delivers it, and shutdown closes it. A short shutdown review can help you leave unfinished work with a clear next step.
How they reinforce each other
- A clean shutdown makes the next morning's planning faster: you start with a known state, not a confused one.
- A real morning plan makes focus sessions easier — you already decided what matters.
- Daily focus turns the plan into actual progress.
Adjust frequency
You don't need all three every day. Some patterns that work:
- Plan + shutdown (no formal focus blocks) for high-meeting days.
- Plan + focus (skip shutdown) for short days.
- All three for deep-work days.
